Family Movie Night - August 13, 2010 " To Infinity, and Beyond " We had a great time at our Family Barbecue and Movie night. We shared barbecued hotdogs and all the fixings but we were sure to leave room for dessert.  We continued our discussion of Stewardship and using our Time, Talent, and Treasures in God's Kingdom. We watched a short video illustrating how God can uses our Time, Talent, and Treasures, no matter how big or small they may be.  We learned that we all have gifts to share in God's Kingdom. We watched "Toy Story 2" Although we had some technical difficulties, we all enjoyed the movie. I think many in the group have seen the movie several time since I heard the kids saying the funny lines with the characters in the movie. We paused the movie long enough to enjoy or favorite snack, ice cream sundaes. We didn't get a chance to watch the movie outside under the stars as we had planned but we were a lot cooler and dryer in the basement since it started raining shortly after we finished cooking the hot dogs. Thanks to everyone who could join us. Special thanks for helping clean up and reset the chairs and tables for Sunday School. It was a great event. we hope to see you all at the next Mountaineer's Friday Night Event. |
"Go Fly a Kite" - July 30, 2010 On July 30th, the Jr Youth got together to test the wind and pushed our kites into the heavens. We had a great time flying kites even though the weather didn't cooperate as well as we hoped. We had a lot of fun and didn't lose a single kite!  For a snack, we built our own ice cream sundaes using topping we brought to share with the group. We had difficulty eating them before the melted. In addition to our kite-flying, we learned about Stewardship - using our Time, Talents, and Treasures.  Our Topic Title was "Poor Mama, the Giving Queen." We discussed Mark 12: 41- 44 and the example of the Widow's Mite.  We discovered the joy of giving through videos and story examples. "Water and Works Party" - June 11, 2010 We had a great “Work and Water Party” on June 11th. We painted over the panels getting ready for VBS. It was a messy job! The group did a great job - of course, we would have done a better job if someone had bought the right paint for the job... Guess that was me... I learned a lot about paint that evening.  Then we played water games and showed our water balloon talents. I think everyone got quite wet in the process, but all were good sports and had a great time.  We finished off the evening with ice cream sundaes, one of our favorite snacks on warm evenings. Don't miss the fun. Come join us for our next Jr Youth Activity.
